Abstract:

The SDCCD solicited Design/Build proposals for a 350 car new parking structure on their North City Campus. The $4.5 million Parking Structure proved to be the perfect opportunity to explore ways of introducing Integrated Project Delivery methodology into a public facility in California. Learn how the Design/Build team capitalized on IPD concepts to develop a winning strategy that fosters true collaboration and commitment. Learn how the team developed contractual and technological strategies to create shared risk/reward scenarios to incentivize all team members to excel. Learn the lessons that each of the team members brought away from the experience. IPD is truly the proverbial Paradigm Shift in project management. This modest structure represents only the earliest movements in this Delivery Method that will surely be part of the industry in greater frequency over time.

Value Added Proposition: (What the attendee can expect to take away)Learn how to structure a design/build team around Integrated Project Delivery practices.Learn how BIM technology properly implemented can achieve a higher level of detail early in the design process to reduce risk and ensure success.Learn how the team encouraged complete participation and pushed the philosophy throughout the chain of command.Learn the intangible components that must be present in the level and type of commitment required of all IPD team Members.Learn how this IPD venture resulted in greater team performance and resulted in a true value-added proposition for the owner.Speaker Bios:
