Description
KaluaWebsiteMySpaceFacebookLinksDerived from the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands, a "kalua" is used for cooking a mixture of diverse ingredients underground during times of celebration. The word is a symbol that relates to their arrangement of sounds from their American, Mexican, Colombian and Venezuelan backgrounds. Born of fusion, yet maintaining the foundation Rock en Espanol, Kalua explores the different "genres" of latin music, and makes them their own. In order to both create a place for themselves and to cultivate and promote a community around the music that they love, Kalua has banded together with other Rock En Espanol artists including Vitera, Boca Abajo and many others as a part of the Movimiento Rockero, participating in a monthly showcase at the legendary Antone's in downtown Austin.
